Part 1 | Part 2
SO HEY IT’S DONE
It’s a small comic and the interaction isn’t that meaningful or revealing about the project’s plot as a whole, but I hope it at least works to give a quick look at the setting. And I got to show some more of these two’s personalities, so that’s good!
And overall I just learned a lot from this comic practice. I want to draw more in the future as I develop the project.
1. About ‘immigrant’….basically, Rio and Erlina aren’t from the world this comic is set in. And it’s actually common for this world to have immigrants from other world(s). This is why Rio pointed out the language problem. If you look at the banners/ flyer there are some scribbles that are supposed to be the world’s language. Yeah.
2. Immigrants and natives have some different physical qualities, but the most obvious is the ear shape (a classic haha…..), which is how Rio noticed about Erlina being an immigrant. On page 2's crowd I think I drew one guy with weird ears? Yeah, that's a native.
3. All the terms like ‘immigrant’, ‘festival hall’, etc. are tentative and I’ll think of proper names to call them someday HAHAHA………
4. If it’s not clear, Rio’s tone to Erlina on the top page in this post is supposed to be like talking to a kid, which is why Erlina feels offended. And by ‘play’ he was referring to the shooting booth obviously.
This particular comic is partly inspired from real life I guess….I study abroad and I find it interesting that when you find a fellow international student, especially if they’re from the same country as you, you feel an instant connection with them. If you meet them in your country you probably wouldn’t care as much..
A lot of things feel awkward, but I’ll keep practicing. Also I gotta sleep now. And thank you for those who took an interest in these guys! I’m really glad ;_____; And please do tell me if you find anything weird/you have any critique.
Last thing: They actually met Rush around this time too, and they still had a long way to become friends as they are…..but that’s a story for another time. I really hope I can execute this project one day.
if you read through all of that, or even just looking at this silly comic, thank you so much oh my god
